American soprano Evelyn Johnson Zamudio is a highly versatile soloist and ensemble singer based in Madrid. She is a frequent collaborator with a number of professional ensembles in Catalonia and Madrid, including the Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid, Delirivm Musica, Cor Cererols, Cor Pedrell, Cor Francesc Valls, Locus Desperatus, and Ensemble O Vos Omnes.

 

She is a founding member of the vocal quintet Sfere Vocali with whom she recently recorded music by Francisco Guerrero in collaboration with the instrumental ensemble Dichos Diabolos

 

She has extensive experience as a soloist and recitalist, recently returning to her home country to perform the soprano solos in the Christmas Oratorio by J.S. Bach with the Portland Baroque Orchestra in Oregon. As soprano soloist with the Princeton Festival Baroque Orchestra, she has performed both of Vivaldi’s celebrated motets, Nulla in mundo pax sincera and In furore iuistissimae irae. Other solo concert repertoire includes Haydn Creation, Rossini Stabat Mater, Dvorak Te Deum, Haydn Nelsonmesse, and Barber Knoxville: Summer of 1915

 

Evelyn has performed a number of operatic roles, including Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier (Strauss), and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart). She was a 2nd prize winner at the Upper Midwest Regional Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a finalist in the Dallas Opera Guild Competition and the Lois Alba Aria Competition.

 

She has earned degrees from Saint Olaf College, The University of Texas at Austin, and Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with renowned soprano and pedagogue Costanza Cuccaro.

 

As a passionate and highly skilled teacher of vocal technique, Evelyn has taught private voice lessons for nearly two decades, as well as group voice class, workshops, and individual voice lessons to singers from prominent ensembles such as the Cor Veus and Cor Jove of Amics de la Unió the renowned choral academy in Granollers, Catalonia, and Voces de Toledo, the premiere amateur ensemble of Castilla-La Mancha, of which she is a founding director.
